Donna Wilson is a mom of 2 young sons: 6-year-old Aaron and 7 year-old Damien. Aaron is autistic and non-verbal and Donna purchased Jiobit to keep track of him in the event he elopes or runs. Donna was gracious enough to share her story and her experience with Jiobit. Here's what she had to say:
School starts soon and we have been testing out our new Jiobit today! I was skeptical but the belt clip is very clever and perfectly strong. Every parent and caregiver knows the feeling of taking their eyes off a child for a brief moment. When you look back your heart skips a beat until your eyes find them again. A nonverbal child can't answer when you call their name. A child with autism might not respond and a child with sensory processing disorder might even hide. I am a helicopter parent. With Aaron, I have to be. He only elopes now but he used to be a runner which means he would bolt away the moment I let go of his hand and would run as far and as fast as he could.
With Jiobit, I can set my phone up to notify me when he goes outside of a trusted area. I can open the map and see where he is, indoors or out. If he is on the other side of the fence or in someone else's home, my phone shows me that too. I can even make the device chirp with the push of a button.
Jiobit is something I hope I will never have to use but it's there if I need it! I am hopeful that it will help me give him more room to grow as he gains his independence.
